Hoodie Dresses!

Oh my, I remember sewing the first one of these and cursing endlessly, especially when it came to sewing the hood to the bodice, but I am happy to say that by now I have mastered the art of hoodie-making (even in 2 shapes - pointy like a dwarf hat and round and feminine). I can't wait to introduce them on my website come January!

Savvy business woman that I am, I decided to go on an early Christmas vacation at the beginning of December, thus missing out on a lot of Christmas business. Well, the things we do to make our kiddos happy (they get to see their grandparents for an entire month, and are ecstatic!). Anyway, come January I will be back, with TONS of yummy new dresses!

On a more positive note...

I am working with a friend of mine, the incredibly talented photographer Karri Turner of karriTphotoart, to put my new collection in the best possible light. It makes things a little more complicated that she lives in San Diego and I live in Hawaii, but that's why we have the postal service which kindly delivers boxes full of clothes across the ocean for me. Speaking of ocean...Karri's daughter's name is Ocean, and she is the beautiful little model in most of the pictures, including the one shown here. Don't you think it makes the perfect "peaceful Christmas" greeting card? I love it, and I love the way my Christmas Kimono is presented in it.
If you like, you can check out my entire Christmas line here: Sunloveshirts Holidays

Is this really me?

I am now in my 30s, and I think I have to resign to the fact that I am just not an organized person. My mom is incredibly talented in getting things done, and I kind of always assumed that it was just a matter of time until this very specific gene would make its entrance into my life. Well, hasn't happened yet, and probably won't anymore. That doesn't mean I am not trying though, and failing miserably most of the time.

Take this blog, for example. In an ideal world I would post every single day, and every post would be captivating, funny and accessorized with beautiful pictures. But then life happens. Everyone with children knows how they tend to always show up when you are about to do something for yourself. Then the mommy-guilt kicks in because after all, they ARE my first priority, and how important can a blog post be if the alternative is playing candyland with your 4-year-old or teaching your 1-year-old how to wiggle her piggy toes?

Needless to say that I am not one of those people who have dinner, home-made from scratch of course, on the table by 5pm every day. Or whose house always looks like the grand-prize winner on HGTV. I am more one of those "proud I remembered to pick my daughter up from preschool" kind of people. And I guess that's just fine :-)

Another Kimono Dress

I love the fresh aqua on this fabric; it's another one from Patty Young's Flora and Fauna line.

Dress Give-away

How cool! I am featured on this blog:

Some more new items from the "Fairy Dance" line

I love Patty Young's Andalucia and Flora&Fauna lines! This dress and skirt is made with fabrics from her collection (and the skirt is based on one of her sewing patterns)
The lime green on the knot dress is a really beautiful color; it has this golden undertone that totally looks like the sunsets here in Hawaii!

My little "Porky" Baby

Check out this screen shot of a fellow Etsy shop owner's "pork themed" treasury! The little girl in the piggy dress is my daughter! This cracked me up!!

New Line

Christmas already!

At least when it comes to getting started on my Christmas designs!

I tried to blur out our crappy fence in the background, but I'm afraid I am a total Photoshop amateur...maybe one day I'll learn :-)

Working like NUTS on my boutique line

I have decided to put my improving sewing skills to use and sew a few items that are more challenging than pillowcase dresses: I am in love! Kimono dresses, halter tops, flower petal skirts, ahhh! I can't wait to put them on Ally and take a few really good pictures!

This is my favorite picture from my entire site, I think. It is just too gorgeous (and yes, my little model, Ruby, is really that beautiful in real life! She is a friend's daughter.)

My new line! Twirl Skirts!

I am so excited - they're here! I had been thinking about introducing a new line to my store for months, but never quite had enough time to make it happen (sound familiar, parents?).
I finally sewed the first few; take a look at my store!

A little nightly mishap...

Ever since I started having babies that wake up at the slightest sound, I have transformed myself into a completely stealth human being. I know the steps on my stairs better than I know some of my friends (the 3rd step squeaks, the 5th moans, and the 9th sounds like I anticipate sounding as an old woman), I turn on background noise to flush the toilet, and I wouldn't even think to engage into something as noisy as, say, watching a YouTube video.

Well, yesterday I did not succeed with my low-frequency mission. To explain, my house is kind of weird. I have light switches, electric outlets and the like in places you wouldn't expect them. Not because that's how I like it, it's just how it was when I moved in. Now it so happens that one of the kitchen light switches is right next to the switch for the garbage disposal, and yes, you guessed it right, it's not a good idea to turn on your garbage disposal at 10pm, especially in "dry mode".

Also not a good idea, at least for me: Watching Food Network's "The best thing I ever ate" at 10:30pm. It made me crave a gourmet 5-course meal more than anything else! Had to make do with some brownies...
